SEMINOLE — A gas leak shut down part of Bryan Dairy Road for about an hour Monday morning, fire officials said.
It took fire and gas officials about 40 minutes to get the leak under control, Seminole Fire Rescue spokeswoman Alison Shanabrook said.
By around 11 a.m. Monday, officials were reopening the road to traffic.
The 4-inch Tampa Energy Company natural gas line was ruptured as a result of road construction being done in the area, Shanabrook said.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies helped secure the area as Bryan Dairy road was cut off from Starkey Road to Belcher Road.
Although there was a fuel tanker in the area, which posed an ignition threat, no businesses along Bryan Dairy Road were evacuated, Shanabrook said.
TECO estimated a dollar loss of $1,500 due to the leak.
Largo Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.
