Shot in the head, Lakeland pastor explains his condition: 'Miracle'

LAKELAND — The pastor shot in the back of the head Sunday said Wednesday he considers his condition a "miracle."

Pastor William Boss and associate pastor Carl Stewart were both in critical but stable condition after, authorities said, Jeremiah Fogle, 57, shot both of them Sunday at their Lakeland church after he had shot and killed his wife, Theresa Fogle.

He was subdued by two parishioners and held for authorities.

Officials have since declined to update the pastors' conditions, saying they wanted to protect the clergymen's privacy. But on Wednesday, a Lakeland Regional Medical Center spokeswoman said she spoke to Boss.

"He wanted me to release the one-word condition: miracle," Ashley Link said.
