TAMPA — An underground water pipe burst Thursday morning, creating a muddy hole in the middle of N Armenia Avenue south of Columbus Drive.
The area is expected to remain closed through the weekend, blocking a busy route for drivers headed to Interstate 275.
The hole was about 15 feet wide. It opened in the block between Columbus and W St. Joseph Street.
The Tampa Water Department blocked all traffic on N Armenia Avenue, a one-way street, near Columbus Drive.
Police said repairs are expected to be completed by 3:30 p.m., but restoration to normal traffic patterns won't be completed before Monday afternoon.
