ST. PETERSBURG — Two people were transported to the hospital after a crash about 11:15 a.m. Sunday on 38th Avenue N.
A crew from St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue tore off the left side of one of the vehicles, a maroon Chevrolet Cavalier, to extricate one of the drivers.
"She was removed as fast as we could," Lt. Phil Whitman said. "It took right about 20 minutes."
The woman was "alert and conscious," he said.
About 11:55 a.m., the Cavalier, minus its roof and side doors, was facing west in the eastbound lane. Pieces of the vehicle were on the curb on 38th Avenue N near 38th Street.
The other car, a gold Jeep, was towed to the home of the other driver, who lived in the area, Whitman said.
No other details about the accident or the drivers' conditions were available.
