St. Petersburg police officer, other driver injured in crash

ST. PETERSBURG — A police cruiser and a Lexus SUV collided head-on Monday afternoon, injuring the officer and another person, police said.

The female police officer, who was not immediately identified, was hospitalized with complaints of neck pain. The other driver was taken to a hospital as a trauma alert, but no condition was released.

The crash occurred at 22nd Avenue N and 22nd Street N.

Police said the officer was westbound on 22 Avenue N. The other vehicle was eastbound on 22 Avenue and trying to turn north on 22 Street N when the two vehicles collided.
