ST. PETERSBURG — The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a man who led troopers along Interstate 275 and into a St. Petersburg neighborhood before crashing into a pole Monday night.

About 10:10 p.m., the 1996 white four-door Dodge was spotted going 96 mph on the interstate near 54th Avenue N when a trooper tried to pull it over. But the car kept going, finally crashing into a pillar at a St. Petersburg park, said FHP spokesman Larry Kraus.

The driver ran. Two passengers were arrested. Troopers said they later discovered that the car was stolen.

The highway patrol is working with St. Petersburg and Gulfport police to determine charges for those involved and to track down the driver.

There were no injuries.
