A cave-in over a wastewater mainline in Tampa today has thrown another wrench into the city's traffic patterns.
The northbound turn lane onto Cypress Street at the Himes Avenue intersection is closed while crews repair the cave-in, according to a news release from the Tampa Police Department.
Additionally, on Himes Avenue northbound the middle lane is closed and all traffic is being merged into the easternmost northbound lane. On Himes Avenue southbound, the middle lane is closed and all traffic is being merged into the westernmost outside lane. Barricades and signage are in place to direct traffic around the closed lanes and work area.
The release recommends that drivers use alternate routes during this closure to avoid any potential traffic congestion. The scheduled completion date for this repair is May 16.
