Suspicious note brings Pasco deputies to Sunlake High School

LAND O'LAKES – Two missing students, a phone call and a suspicious note drew a crush of Pasco Sheriff's deputies to Sunlake High School on Friday afternoon.

Two students, whose identities have not been released, had recently run away from home, said sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin. Around noon, Tobin said, one of the student's family members called the school to report that the student left a note saying they had a parent's firearm.

Tobin emphasized the note made "no specific threat to the school."

Still, he said, there were more deputies at the school, 3023 Sunlake Blvd., and a "high-supervision release" at the end of the day.

"Given the current events," he said, "we're taking extra precautions to ensure safety of students on campus."

The two students have not yet been found.
