TAMPA — A standoff between a SWAT team and a woman inside a hotel room ended when the woman shot and injured herself Wednesday evening, deputies said.
The unidentified woman barricaded herself in a room at the Red Roof Inn, 10121 Horace Ave., earlier in the afternoon, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
As a precaution, deputies closed Horace Avenue, called in a SWAT team to negotiate and evacuated nearby rooms.
Sometime during the talks, she shot herself in the stomach, deputies said.
The woman was awake and talking when paramedics rushed her to Tampa General Hospital, but no condition has been given.
