Authorities arrested a man Sunday morning who had barricaded himself in a Kenneth City home after threatening to shoot his roommates with a shotgun, police said.

Justin Peters, 31, faces charges of aggravated assault and felon in possession of a firearm, said Kenneth City police Chief Michael Rossi.

According to police, Peters, who was drunk, threatened his two roommates Saturday night. The pair went to the police department to report him.

Kenneth City officers arrived at the house at 4822 56th Way N, but Peters refused to come out.

On Sunday morning, the Pinellas Sheriff's Office SWAT team responded. Police called the house about 200 times within the nearly eight hours that they were outside.

Finally, around 11:30 a.m., SWAT members entered the home and arrested Peters, who was asleep, police said. Several houses were evacuated, but residents were allowed to return after Peters' arrest.

Peters was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where he remained Sunday in lieu of $20,000 bail.
