Tampa police investigating death of 2-year-old

TAMPA — Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy on Monday.

Rescue crews arrived at the River Garden Apartments, 4018 N Howard Ave., and found Yandel J. Martinez not breathing, according to Tampa police.

He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Someone told police that Martinez had fallen down the steps and stopped breathing.

Authorities have not released the cause of death determined by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office.
