Tampa police: Off-duty Pasco school bus driver arrested on DUI charge

TAMPA — A man listed in jail records as a bus driver for Pasco County schools was arrested Sunday after police say he was driving under the influence in his Ford Mustang.

Police say they found Zachary P. Manning, 46, of Land O'Lakes, behind the wheel of his 2008 black Mustang just after midnight Saturday. According to an arrest affidavit, he had struck the back of a van parked in the lot of the Tampa Letter Carriers Hall, 3003 W Cypress St.

Manning had vomited on himself and his car, the affidavit said. An officer also noted his glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and inability to stand.

Police recorded his blood-alcohol level at .156 and .158, records show. In Florida, a driver is presumed impaired beyond the legal limit of .08. He was released from the Hillsborough County Jail on Sunday morning on $500 bail.

Pasco County school district officials could not be reached for comment Sunday.
