Tampa police search for missing man with dementia

TAMPA — Tampa police are searching for a 55-year-old man with dementia last seen at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Joseph Steven Fritch of 109 Oak Lee Drive in Lutz was carrying a grey or blue duffel bag. His sister reported him missing after he left a friend's house at 3121 W Powhatan Ave. and didn't return home.

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies conducted a search, and police dogs tracked his scent to Al Lopez Park.

Fritch's past affiliations include St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Pickford's Sundries, 2606 W. Hillsborough Ave. He used to live at 3136 W Powhatan Ave. and has been known to visit that address. His mother is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 3412 N Ola Ave.

Because of his condition, police are concerned for his safety.
