Tampa woman has breathing trouble, dies shortly after warrant arrest

A Tampa woman died shortly after being taken into custody Friday morning on a warrant for a probation violation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

At about 9 a.m, sheriff's detectives arrested the woman at her home in the 8200 block of N Florida Avenue. She cooperated fully and was put in sheriff's vehicle without handcuffs due to a prior shoulder injury.

While detectives were finishing paperwork outside the Orient Road Jail, they noticed that the woman seemed to be having trouble breathing, the Sheriff's Office said. Paramedics and a jail nurse were called to help the woman. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.

An autopsy and sheriff's investigation are pending, although the Sheriff's Office said foul play is not suspected. The probation violation warrant was issued by the Florida Department of Corrections and stemmed from a grand theft case. The woman was not immediately identified Friday because her relatives had not been notified by Friday evening.

Country music has a dude problem.
