Teen critically injured while tubing on Lake Seminole

SEMINOLE — A Naples man on a Sea-Doo collided with two teenagers tubing on Lake Seminole on Monday afternoon, sending one to the hospital with critical injuries.

Katie Yale, 15, of 5863 Blossom Lake Drive, Seminole, was being towed behind a 19-foot motorboat when the accident occurred, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies said. She was hospitalized with "life-threatening injuries,'' deputies said.

Audree Franz, 13, of 3177 64th Way N, St. Petersburg, was in another tube and sustained minor injuries.

The Sea Doo was driven by Ryan Godcharles, 21, of 2140 Randell Blvd., Naples. He was not injured, deputies said. The boat, a Key West center console, was driven by Douglas Yale, 44, also of the Blossom Lake Drive address.
