Two hurt when Palm River apartment staircase gives way

PALM RIVER — Two people were hurt when a wooden staircase between the first and second floor of an apartment building collapsed Tuesday night.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue took the two adults they found at 1056 Cardonna St. to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

A ladder truck helped four adults, three infants and a family dog get off the second floor.

County code enforcement is investigating how the collapse happened.
