Valrico man faces child porn charges

VALRICO — Child pornography images found by detectives led them to arrest a 23-year-old man Wednesday morning.

Derek Morgan of 2830 Buckhorn Preserve Blvd. was home when the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Internet Predator Unit came to visit for the second time.

Investigators got a search warrant for Morgan's home by tracing child porn he made available for download, according to the Sheriff's Office.

During the first visit to serve the search warrant on Sunday, detectives seized four computers and digital media devices, said Det. Larry McKinnon, a sheriff's spokesman. A search of Morgan's electronics revealed at least 20 images of children ages 1 to 13 engaged in sexual acts, he said.

Morgan faces 20 counts of possession of child porn. He was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was being held on $150,000 bail Wednesday night.
