A disturbing video of a 68-year-old south Florida woman being thrown into a pool after she complained about loud music at a party is going viral.
Local 10 News reports that the Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating. The station reports that video shared on social media shows Nancy James, 68, entering the pool area at the Player's Place apartment complex in North Lauderdale on Saturday with her two small dogs.
The station reports that James was asking people at the party to keep noise to a minimum. Soon, people start to surround the woman, laughing and taking video. At one point someone says something about throwing her in.
Soon after, a male in a red shirt picks up James and falls to the ground, bringing the woman with him. Local 10 News said it wasn't clear whether the man meant to body slam James, or if he slipped.
The video then shows the male getting up, picking up James again and throwing her into the pool while she held the leash of her dogs.
The video shows people laughing, screaming and running away.
Local 10 News said James suffered bruises on her shoulder and leg, but refused to go to a hospital. However, neighbors told the station that James wound up in the emergency room and was released Monday morning. It was unknown how her dogs were doing.
The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident and wants to speak with witnesses.
Residents at the apartment complex who spoke to Local 10 said they were shocked.
"First of all, I can't even believe that somebody would be allowed to act like that," said Tracy Ann Simmonds. "These young people are a little bit out of control."
"She's an elder, you need to show respect for your elders that's crazy, that's a horrible, horrible thing that happened to her," said Simmonds.
