Woman held after pickup reported driving on the Pinellas Trail

A woman was held under the Baker Act Tuesday morning after witnesses reported she drove her pickup truck down the Pinellas Trail.

Police said Jonie Leeann Hensley, 60, knocked down at least 14 barriers and forced cyclists off the trail with her 2010 Ford F-150. Witnesses started reporting the truck's traveling north on the trail about 9:15 a.m. as it exited the trail near 38th Avenue North.

Hensley then reentered the trail and continued to drive south. Officers found the truck stopped near Fifth Avenue N and 71st Street.

Hensley was taken into custody under the Baker Act and examined by paramedics at the scene. According to police reports, she was acting wildly and appeared to be under the influence of some form of narcotic. She was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation pending any criminal charges.

Police reported no reported injuries, although trail barricades from Fifth Avenue N to 39th Avenue N were damaged.
