Workers close Hillsborough Avenue at N 56th Street to repair gas leak

TAMPA — Several major streets are closed in the area of Hillsborough Avenue and N 56th Street as crews try to repair a ruptured natural gas line.

Deputies closed N 56th Street in both directions from Hillsborough Avenue to Hanna Avenue, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Hillsborough Avenue has been closed in both directions from N 56th Street to N 59th Street.

Fire Rescue has evacuated the immediate area and TECO has come out to repair the leak.

No time line on the road reopening was given.
