Zephyrhills man thrown from motorcycle, dies in collision on U.S. 301

ZEPHYRHILLS — A 45-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when a pickup truck drove into his path on U.S. 301 in Pasco County, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported.

Bradley Near, 45, of Zephyrhills, was thrown from the motorcycle and died from his injuries at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, the FHP said.

Near was wearing a helmet, according to the report.

The driver of the pickup, Tammy Swanson, 44, was traveling south on U.S. 301 at 8:51 p.m. when she turned left toward State Road 39, crossing into the path of Near, who was driving north on U.S. 301.

Swanson and her two passengers, Felicia Swanson, 19, and Jaqreia Hayes, 20, were not injured. All are from Zephyrhills.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to the report.
