NEW PORT RICHEY — The message that Marla Stuart wants to get across to people during the upcoming Holy Ghost Rally and Ministry is the importance of getting grounded in the word of God.

She wants Christians to know the Bible.

"We have been hearing a lot about the end times lately and people tend to get fearful," she said. "We have to know that in times of trauma, God is our strength."

During the rally that begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Showers of Blessing Miracle Center in New Port Richey, Stuart and several other female ministers will teach, pray and offer practical solutions for perilous times.

Stuart, the president and founder of Eagles Rising Ministries, the host of the rally, has been in the ministry for 40 years. Widowed from her husband, William, in 2004 after 48 years of marriage, she said she knows firsthand about trusting God during difficult times.

"I had five days' notice of my husband dying," she said. "If it wasn't for the grace of God I could not have survived. We met in grade school and were lifetime sweethearts."

Stuart has traveled widely ministering to people, including reaching out to Third World countries with the newly formed Eagles Rising Ministries.

"I never had any fear because the Lord was with me," she said.

Stuart said people need to focus on Christ and his promises.

She quotes Scripture from Matthew 24, where it tells of all the trials and tribulations that will come during the final days.

"God has not given us a spirit of fear, he says he will protect you, deliver you and keep you in this hour of tribulation," she said.

From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 11, Pastor Gail Ward and the Rev. Louise McKinney will speak. A lunch break follows, and people are asked to bring a covered dish to share (drinks will be provided).

During the lunch hour, there will be a display on End-Time Disaster Preparation. Patty Lynn and Doris Inman will talk about how to prepare for emergencies — for example where to purchase freeze-dried food and water purifying systems.

During the July 11 afternoon meeting there will be breakout sessions with several speakers including Stuart, Ward and Pastor Sheryl Powell leading groups. Powell has been in the ministry with her husband, John, for 25 years. Their vision is to evangelize and teach Christians about God's love through the Holy Spirit. They are a part of the Eagles Rising Ministries team.

During the late July 11 afternoon session there will be prayer for salvation, healing and deliverance, if needed, Stuart said.

"Our message is for the righteous to be as bold as lions," Stuart said. "We have to have our faith rooted and grounded in the faithfulness of God."
