Local churches are offering both traditional and contemporary worship services for Easter, along with some free entertainment events for the family.
The Hernando County Family YMCA and Hernando Christian Ministerial Association will host "A Time to Honor Christ's Sacrifice," a Good Friday community service at 9 a.m. April 14 at 1300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. A complimentary continental breakfast will follow the service.
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 411 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 14. Also, there will be an outdoor Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m., followed by a free Easter breakfast, and an Easter festival service at 10 a.m. April 16. The church is in the Mariner Office Park. Ridge Manor Community United Methodist Church, 34350 Cortez Blvd, will have a 7 p.m. Good Friday service on April 14 and a 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service along with its regular 10:15 a.m. service on April 16. Call (352) 583-3770.
First United Methodist Church of Brooksville, 109 S Broad St., will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 14 and a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. April 16. Also, there will be an outdoor Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at the Brooksville Common. Call (352) 796-3363.
Great Life Church, 14494 Cortez Blvd., west of Brooksville, will host its annual Spring Fest from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 15. The event will include thousands of eggs, bounce houses, train rides, a barbecue, candy, prizes and giveaways, including bicycles and a flat-screen TV. Northcliffe Baptist Church, 10515 Northcliffe Blvd., Spring Hill, will host a Big Easter Party for children age 2 through fifth grade from 10 a.m. to noon April 15. There will be egg hunts, games, bounce houses and face painting, all in a carnival atmosphere. The church will also offer a contemporary Easter service later in the day, at 6 p.m.
"Our goal for this event is to invite as many people as we can onto our campus to enjoy a fun and free day with their families," said Erin Mello, director of children's ministries. "We want each family to walk away excited to come to our Easter services that evening and on Easter Sunday."
The church will have a traditional Easter service at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service at 10:30 a.m. April 16. Call (352) 683-5882.
Grace World Outreach Church, 20366 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, will host its Eggstravaganza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 15. There will be food, games and bounce houses.
"It's bigger than ever this year with a helicopter egg drop," a poster for the event promises.

Spring Hill Baptist Church, 3140 Mariner Blvd, will have its Easter Eggstravaganza at 10 a.m. April 15. There will be age-based egg hunts for children ages 3 through 12, as well as inflatables, games, prizes and a Gospel presentation. Call (352) 683-5685.

First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, will offer a free Holy Saturday communion breakfast at 9 a.m. and its 522 service with contemporary worship at 5:22 p.m. April 15. Brooksville Church of the Nazarene, 19384 Ingram St., will have an Easter egg hunt with lots of eggs, candy and free food at 1 p.m. April 15. There will also be an Easter store.
"That's where the children can exchange their prize eggs with different things such as free Easter baskets and toys and other cool things," Pastor Amy Byerley said.

Courts of Praise Deliverance Ministries, 15444 Wiscon Road, Brooksville, will celebrate Easter at 3 p.m. April 16, featuring a special praise dance by the Prophecy Youth Dancers and a saxophone selection by Pastor Dell O. Barnes Sr.
Lake Lindsey United Methodist Church will host its third Easter sunrise service, conducted by the Rev. H. Carol Roberts, on the grounds of Chinsegut Hill at 7 a.m. April 16.
"It's a great outdoor service with the manor house as a backdrop," said Ron Pearson, administrative council chairman. "You will hear the birds chirping and see the sun rise."
