District to hold STEM expo Saturday at usfsp

The Pinellas County School District will host its second annual STEM Expo on April 25 at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. The event, geared to elementary and middle school students, will showcase more than 150 student projects. Area businesses also will highlight their support of STEM in Pinellas classrooms. In addition, families will be able to tour the campus to see college life firsthand while attending the expo. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Campus University Center, 140 Seventh Ave. S.

Shorecrest Prep to host Relay for Life on May 1

Shorecrest Preparatory School will host Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society from 3 p.m. to midnight May 1. Participants can donate online or at the event, which invites fundraising teams to camp out around the track and take turns walking. Proceeds also will be raised at food and game booths. Entertainment will include a DJ and performances by local musicians as well as Shorecrest students. The school will be attempting to reach its 10-year fundraising goal of $1 million. To donate or sign up beforehand, find the event's website by searching online for "Relay for Life of Shorecrest."

Elementary school lunches

Monday: Hamburger, bean and cheese burrito, farmers salad, chicken Caesar wrap, tater tots, tossed or romaine salad.

Tuesday: Cheese sticks with marinara; beef or pork tacos, chicken Caesar salad, Italian sub, refried fiesta beans, veggie dippers.

Wednesday: Chicken drumstick with biscuit, beef ravioli or macaroni and beef, hummus salad plate; ham and cheese croissant, corn, romaine side salad.

Thursday: Toasted cheese sandwich, hot dog on bun, chef salad, turkey and cheese sandwich, tomato soup, veggie dippers.

Friday: Pizza, ocean treasures with cheese grits, veggie double dipper salad, broccoli.
