Unattended package in downtown Tampa found harmless, streets reopen

TAMPA — Police said the unattended package left near a federal building downtown Wednesday was a "harmless briefcase" left there by mistake.

The package was near the corner of E Polk and N Morgan streets, outside of the Robert L. Timberlake Jr. Federal Building and Annex.

Police closed down parts of Morgan and Polk streets as they investigated around 6:30 p.m. By 7:25 p.m., all roads were reopened.

Tampa police's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team assessed the package, police said.
