Tampa police search for bank robber

TAMPA — Police were searching for a man captured on surveillance video while robbing a bank with a gun Monday.

Around 9:43 a.m., the man entered BB&T Bank at 4820 S Himes Ave. and pointed a handgun at tellers while demanding cash, according to Tampa police. No one was injured. He then drove away in a mid-1990s white Dodge Caravan.

Detectives found the van a few blocks from the bank, and it was found to have been stolen.

Police said the robber was wearing a wig, sunglasses and a black hat with a TB logo.

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
