Teens take on a dutiful challenge

 
After speaking at a Monday morning assembly at St. Petersburg Catholic High School, Rear Adm. John Kirby, a member of the Class of 1981, visits with U.S. Naval Academy hopefuls Matt Spelich, 17, left, a junior, and senior Connor Cureton, 18. Senior Martita Sharlow, 17, right, plans to enlist in the Navy after graduation. Kirby is the Navy’s chief of information and is the principal spokesman for the Department of the Navy. He provides communication counsel to the secretary of the Navy and the chief of naval operations. At right, the three students show the Navy challenge coins Kirby gave them.
