Three teenagers were charged Thursday in more than 50 car burglaries in the Spring Hill area, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said.
Manuel and Angel Casanova, both 18, and 19-year-old Thomas Neve, were charged with carrying out 57 burglaries between early July and this week, smashing car windows to steal valuables inside and then popping the tires, according to a sheriff's report.
The three were held at the Hernando County Detention Center in lieu of $86,000 each. Detectives said more charges are pending.
During a traffic stop, a deputy noticed inside the car baseball bats glittering with glass shards, investigators said, and goods that looked stolen.
The car was seized under the Florida Contraband and Forfeiture Act, said the report.
