TRUMP SAYS HE'S 'FAIRLY CLOSE' TO DEAL ON YOUNG IMMIGRANTS

President Donald Trump today said he was "fairly close" to a deal with congressional leaders to preserve protections for young immigrants living illegally in America but he's insisting on "massive border security" as part of any agreement. Trump, speaking to reporters before surveying hurricane damage in Florida, pushed back against Democratic leaders who claimed there was a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiative. He also said his promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border would "come later."

I-75 WILL REMAIN OPEN AS FLOOD WATER RECEDE

Floridians driving home after Hurricane Irma can breathe a sigh of relief: It seems like Interstate 75 through north-central Florida might not have to close. The Florida Department of Transportation announced at 10 a.m. today that I-75 would remain open as the flood waters that threatened to close it had finally begun to recede.

2.6 MILLION FLORIDA CUSTOMERS AGAIN WAKE WITHOUT POWER

A quarter of the state started the fourth day after Hurricane Irma without lights or air conditioning as energy companies worked to restore one of the largest power outages in the country's history. As of 9:20 a.m. Thursday, more than 2.6 million customers still didn't have power — down 4.1 million from the peak outage across the state Monday afternoon.

Even in its weakened state, Irma caused plenty of misery in the Tampa Bay area. But the Category 3 winds and epic storm surge never materialized, sparing most homes major damage and easing fears that the area's real estate market could face a calamitous setback just it was enjoying such a strong rebound from the housing crash.
