Hurricane Irene scuttles 41 flights at Tampa International Airport

TAMPA — Hurricane Irene grounded 41 flights at Tampa International Airport Saturday. Most of the affected flights are arrivals and departures involving northeastern states.

Airport officials said 15 arrivals and 26 departures from cities ranging from Providence, R.I. to Raleigh/Durham, N.C. were cancelled. More than a dozen cancelled flights were between Tampa and New York.

People returning from their vacation cruises to the Tampa Port may also be affected by Irene cancellations.

Weekend travelers should stay in contact with their airlines to stay abreast of cancellations.
