New Suncoast Parkway interchange opens Saturday in Lutz

LUTZ — It's official: The Suncoast Parkway's new interchange at Lutz-Lake Fern Road will open Saturday.

Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, a part of the Florida Department of Transportation, aims to open the on- and off-ramps at the interchange by 10 a.m. Saturday or maybe a little earlier, spokeswoman Christa Deason said Tuesday.

The $10 million interchange took a little more than a year and a half to design and build. Another $6 million in work is under way to widen and improve Lutz-Lake Fern Road on each side of the interchange, as well as add sidewalks and pedestrian signals. The state expects that work to continue until February.
