ST. PETERSBURG — If you're driving in the Tampa Bay area today, avoid eastbound Gandy Boulevard in the area between Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. St. N and 2nd Street.

A large fuel spill prompted officials to close all eastbound lanes of the road late this morning. They anticipate the road will be closed for at least two hours.

About 200 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled from a portable fuel tank that fell off a construction vehicle while it was being transported, St. Petersburg fire rescue officials said.

St. Petersburg police urged motorists to access Gandy by taking 83rd Avenue N to San Martin Boulevard NE.
