PLANT CITY — A large sinkhole Tuesday night closed a road south of Plant City.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Jerry Smith Road were closed from W.O. Griffin Road to Touchstone Road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The hole was 25 feet across and 5 feet deep, deputies said.
Drivers were being asked to avoid the area if possible.
