Crash causes jam on I-275 in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG — A vehicle crash on I-275 briefly blocked all northbound lanes of the highway near 54th Avenue N early Monday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The crash happened around 8 a.m., the FHP said.

Authorities diverted traffic around the highway at 54th Avenue N, said Bay News 9 traffic reporter Chuck Henson. He said drivers were led around the scene and back onto I-275 further north.

Still, he said, traffic was backed up to about 22nd Avenue N just before 8:30 a.m., when all lanes were reopened.

No further information was immediately available.
