Himes Avenue exit off southbound I-275 moves to left side

TAMPA — Drivers exiting southbound Interstate 275 to Himes Avenue will find the ramp has moved — from a right-hand exit to a left-hand exit.

The temporary change for Exit 41C takes effect early Wednesday, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The change is due to construction and is expected to last until late 2014, when the exit will reopen as a right-lane ramp.

Directly under the interstate overpass, Himes Avenue will be closed around-the-clock between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Friday.

Until it re-opens, drivers will be forced to turn left and go south on Himes after exiting southbound I-275. The suggested detour is to go south on Himes, turn right onto Cypress Street and go west, turn right onto Dale Mabry Highway and go north to Spruce street, then turn right and go east on Spruce to Himes.

Beginning late Friday afternoon, motorists will once again be able to go either direction on Himes after exiting southbound I-275.

  1. Encounters: Trial by storm for a rookie principal

    K12

DUNEDIN — When he nodded off to sleep, the hallway lights outside Michael Vasallo's office were on, so the sudden darkness woke him.

The glow of his desk phone dimmed.

Michael Vasallo, right, the first-year principal at Dunedin Highland Middle School, talks with the school's head plant operator Clint Case near the back-up generator on campus. The generator failed just as Hurricane Irma passed through Pinellas County, making for a stressful night. The experience made Vasallo long to return to his regular job, educating middle schoolers. LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the second week in a row, Florida found itself storming the field in a game that came down to the last second. 5. An attempt to project what Rays will look like in 2018

BALTIMORE — We know what the Rays look like this year: a team that had enough talent but too many flaws, in construction and performance, and in the next few days will be officially eliminated from a wild-card race it had a chance to win but let slip away.

Adeiny Hechavarria, high-fiving Lucas Duda, seems likely to be brought back.
