I-75 in Lee County reopens after brush fire

FORT MYERS — The Florida Highway Patrol closed a segment of Interstate 75 in Lee County for several hours Sunday evening due to a brush fire.

Both northbound and southbound lanes were closed between mile markers 116 and 123, in the Bonita Springs area south of Fort Myers.

The patrol closed the road around 4:50 p.m., according to Lt. Chris Miller, because smoke from the fire hindered visibility.

The road re-opened before 9 p.m.
