ST. PETERSBURG — The Pinellas Bayway toll roads that allow drivers to travel between the city and St. Pete Beach is not accepting in-person cash payments for the next day, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Instead, FDOT started using its Toll-By-Plate system for the roadway on Thursday at 5 a.m. while workers perform maintenance on the Service Walk-Up Center. The center is scheduled to resume cash payments on Friday at 5 a.m.
Customers who use a SunPass, Bayway commuter pass or resident pass are not affected. Cash-paying customers will be invoiced, but will not be charged an administrative fee while the Toll-By-Plate system is being used.
