TAMPA — A segment of MacDill Avenue in South Tampa will close to through-traffic for about a week starting Sunday.
The closure is part of a project to install a pumping station and storm sewer lines and resolve a persistent flooding problem.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone on MacDill between Asbury Place and Coachman Avenue, just north of Gandy Boulevard.
Through-traffic will be diverted to Bay to Bay Boulevard, Dale Mabry Highway and Gandy Boulevard instead. But local traffic to businesses and homes within the area will continue.
The city expects the road to reopen by Dec. 16.
