Sign work to close I-275 Tuesday night near Tampa's West Shore

An overnight construction project will mean a detour Tuesday night and Wednesday morning for all drivers on Interstate 275 near West Shore Boulevard.

The project to replace an overhead sign truss that spans all lanes of the interstate will mean that the road will be closed near the West Shore exit between about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

During that time, traffic approaching or coming off the Howard Frankland Bridge will be diverted off I-275 and detoured onto State Road 60.

While the six-hour window has been designated for the project, transportation officials said the work may be completed earlier to minimize the effect on early morning traffic.
