Traffic snarls expected this weekend on Interstate 275 through downtown Tampa

Motorists traveling south on Interstate 275 can expect traffic delays this weekend as officials close two lanes between downtown and South Tampa.

Workers will close two lanes of southbound traffic beginning at 10 p.m. Friday on I-275 between the Hillsborough River and Himes Avenue. Traffic will be diverted to the old northbound lanes of I-275 and exits at Howard/Armenia and Himes Avenues will remain open.

Transportation authorities are asking the public to find alternate routes if possible. The lanes will reopen early Sunday.
