TAMPA — The lane switch on Interstate 275 that slowed traffic to a crawl was completed by Saturday night, officials said.
The Florida Department of Transportation closed two southbound lanes from the Interstate 4 interchange to the Howard and Armenia exits, causing a bottleneck that halted westbound traffic for a mile and half earlier in the day.
Since then, the two lanes reopened by 7 p.m.
Now southbound travelers will use the old northbound lanes of I-275 while people exiting at Himes Avenue and Howard and Armenia Avenues will use the existing southbound lanes to exit, the DOT said.
The biggest change motorists will notice is that the Armenia Avenue entrance ramp to the now merges from the left.
