Water drills for dogs

Law enforcement officers, top, help their dogs adjust to the water Tuesday during an annual training exercise at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Hernando County. The dogs entered the water with their handlers and then practiced drills for approaching a subject in the water. Canine teams from several agencies around the Tampa Bay area participated in the exercise. At right, Citrus County bloodhound trainer Linda Boles helps her dogs, Winchester and Sheriff Kelly, get acclimated to the water.
