Numerous waterspouts reported around Tampa Bay

A special marine warning is in effect for the Anclote Key area after a waterspout was spotted in the vicinity, drifting east, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, a special weather bulletin for "excessive lightning" and winds up to 50 mph for Hillsborough County expired.

Several waterspouts touched down around Tampa Bay late Monday morning and the NWS issued a tornado warning for western Hillsborough County. There no reports of tornadoes touching down.

Several witnesses called the NWS to report waterspouts and funnel clouds on the south side of the Courtney Campbell Parkway, said meteorologist Rick Davis of the National Weather Service in Ruskin.

Water spouts were reported near Indian Rocks beach at 10:46 a.m., offshore of Clearwater at 10:49 a.m., east of Clearwater at 11:04 a.m., north of the Howard Frankland Bridge in Old Tampa Bay, near the Courtney Campbell Parkway and an undisclosed time and west of Town 'n Country at 11:23 a.m.
