Cold weather shelters open their doors as temperatures hover near freezing

With temperatures dipping into 30s and the wind chill near freezing, several cold weather shelters in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties are opening their doors Friday night to homeless people.

Families and children are welcome at select shelters, which are located in Wimauma, Brandon, Town 'N Country, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park and Tarpon Springs.

Transportation can be arranged in Hillsborough County between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., or by calling 813-272-7272.
