Fog advisories issued across bay area

Commuters cross the Gandy Bridge in heavy fog Tuesday morning.

CHRIS ZUPPA | Times

Commuters cross the Gandy Bridge in heavy fog Tuesday morning.

A fog advisory was issued for the bay area until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Fog covering Tampa Bay diminished visibility to a mile or less, said Juli Marquez, Bay News 9 meteorologist. In some areas, visibility was less than a quarter of a mile.

Drivers should allow extra time to get to a destination and leave extra space between themselves and other cars as long as fog and mist stick around.

"Be aware it could change rapidly in some locations," Marquez said.

The mist will be gone by this afternoon when it's partly cloudy and sunshine sends temperatures into the upper 60s or low 70s.

More fog is probable Wednesday morning, forecasters said.
