Fog that has settled in across the area may persist through the evening and into the morning hours, weather officials said.
The sea fog, which moved on shore Tuesday afternoon, is concentrated along the gulf coast of Pinellas and Pasco counties. A dense fog advisory for coastal waters remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"It could be pretty thick overnight," said Josh Linker, meteorologist with Bay News 9.
Shifting winds, however, could sweep the sea fog back offshore before the morning, said Ernie Jillson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Still, both meteorologist said there's a chance for regular fog Wednesday morning before a cold front sets in about noon.
