Light fog pushed visibility down to just a couple of miles for drivers on interstates northeast of Tampa early Tuesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol advised motorists to use caution as they drove on Interstate 4 near Auburndale and Interstate 75 near State Road 60.
The FHP also issued a weather warning for northbound U.S. 41 and Valroy Road in Ruskin.
No fog issues were reported at airports in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez said.
The fog should give way to scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The chance of rain could be higher — near 40 or 50 percent — for homes east of Tampa Bay because of a developing sea breeze that will move inland, she said.
As the rain pours, temperatures east of Tampa will warm to the low 80s.
The sea breeze will keep coastal areas in the upper 70s, she said.
