Drier air will push into the Tampa Bay area in the wake of Tropical Storm Cindy, providing a little relief from the rain — but not the heat and humidity.

While Cindy pounds the central Gulf Coast as it moves north, Tampa Bay will enjoy a fair amount of sunshine throughout the day, according to 10Weather WTSP meteorologist Grant Gilmore.

But the region will draw in just enough moisture that, combined with the heat, will spark a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms, Gilmore said.

Rain chances hover around 40 percent, one of the lowest chances the area has seen lately, and highs are expected to reach the low 90s. The intense humidity, though, will make it feel more like 100.

The relatively dry air will remain in place Friday and into the weekend, Gilmore said, before rain chances bounce back and build in the beginning of next week.
