Monday clouds will lead to Tuesday showers and thunderstorms across Tampa Bay — all before another front brings a big dive in temperatures later this week.

A cold front that will make its way through the area on Thursday is expected to cause temperatures to plunge on Friday and particularly Saturday morning, 10News WTSP meteorologist Ashley Batey said. While most of the Bay area will start in the low to mid 40s, overnight lows will drop into the low to mid 30s in some northern portions of the region.
Before that, though, Monday brings a 30 percent chance of rain with a few afternoon showers, thick clouds and little sunshine, Batey said. Highs will reach the low 80s.
Then, a rain-packed front moves in Tuesday, driving shower and thunderstorm chances up to around 80 percent.
"Tuesday morning is when we will likely have the most rain," Batey said. "While we are not expecting widespread storms or severe weather, we can't rule out a few stray thunderstorms in this batch as well, with a good cluster of storms expected before things start to dry out around 9 p.m."
That second front will bring less rain but the much cooler temperatures later in the week.
