Summertime weather is expected to continue in Tampa Bay on Wednesday before a slight cold front makes its way to the area on Thursday and provides an early taste of fall.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are forecast to roll into the Tampa Bay area from the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, meteorologists said. The timing of the rain should be similar to Tuesday, 10Weather WTSP meteorologist Ashley Batey said, with the highest activity impacting the coast late morning and midday before moving inland during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Expect partly cloudy skies throughout Wednesday and highs to warm to the upper-80s to low-90s, Batey said, though humidity will make it feel closer to 100 degrees.

A cold front is forecast to bring drier air to the area by Thursday, Batey said, making it slightly less humid and cooler on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, meteorologists continue to track Invest 97L, which was located about 300 miles east of Barbados and moving west around 15 to 20 mph early Wednesday morning.

The system looks to track into the Caribbean this weekend, Batey said, and has a 90 percent chance of developing into Tropical Storm Matthew over the next two days.
